Suzie Léger, {Uterus = Space = Universe}, 2007

This video installation features a short film juxtaposing images from an ultrasound with audio recordings from the hubble space telescope. The sensiograph images are taken from the artist’s body and reveal an ‘empty’ uterus accompanying haunting sounds from the vast emptiness of deep space. The position of this video in the twelfth century Mariazell Chapel may open the possibility of contemplating the idea of infinitely expanding space, the macro vs. micro and the tabernacle as a womb.
