Ejercicios para transporter la luz, symbolizes loss of identity and lack of personal communication in a contemporary society that is oversaturated with materialism and images. The intrusive fluorescent light that is used to illuminate the sculpture provides a metaphor for the blinding force of overstimulation in society, and the failure to give meaning to an image. It is essential that Roig’s figures be shown in a solitary state, as they express a return to individual memory and the quest for a recovery of personal fulfillment as well as that of society.
